Busyness Continued

July renewals are in full swing and work has become super busy and overtime has been approved.  Nice, that will be a nice break.

Friday:  Busy work day with a little bit of extra time put in but I was most looking forward to girls night that night.  Denise and I texted back and forth quite a bit during the day to try to get the night figured out and I've just got to say, my lovely friend really needs to practice her texting.  I got a huge kick out of the gibberish she kept sending me and in the end girls night is now dubbed "up wat" because of this. As we were heading home from work, Andy was trying to decide what to do all night and continuing to text with Denise, it was decided to have girls night at our place, so Andy would have to leave.  We kick out the guys hehe.  Anyway, I continued texting Denise trying to decide what time to get together and then she says that Lorie can't come because she is sick, then Char can't come because she is sick, then Beth says she'll be late but turns MIA.  Wth?  I know Denise was planning on making dinner and I know she put a lot of effort into it to and now this.  I was a bit upset by this, one for Denise making all the food, but also because I was looking forward to seeing everyone, and I'm sure you guys could have said something the day before. There will be other nights, however, and I understand being sick.  Get feeling better ladies, being sick sucks!  Andy and I decided just to head over to the Boe's and dinner was delicious.  The chicken tacos were good enough to make me not think about where the chicken came from.  Beth did end up showing up just as we were finishing dinner and we all razzed her for it.  Overall, it was a great evening.  Oh and Dan and Denise are fostering a cat for Denise's aunt and this cat just loves Andy, he sat down and she was all over him.  We almost took her home with us but I decided that I really don't want to deal with another cat in the house.  To the Boe's, I don't know how you guys do it with so many.  I love my Baggs and she is really the only cat I need.

Saturday:  The roller coaster begins.  *Warning: This is a huge wall of text, feel free to skip. If you choose not to skip it has a chance to crit and you could die and loose 10% armor.*

So my boss granted me permission and gave me access to work from home on an as needed bases and for over time purposes.  I love this idea.  I decided to put in some overtime today and try out my newly granted access.  I had the needed links and passwords to download the app that will allow me to have remote access to my work pc and so I should be good to go right?  Oh so painfully wrong.  I have been worried about using my pc as it has been having issues and it has vista on it which i have decided I really don't like, but I decide to go with it anyhow.  So I woke up at about 7:30 on Saturday which is unheard of for me, and without an alarm to boot.  I was proud of myself for this.  I get up, go downstairs, boot up and log in to my work email so I can get started.  I get the websites up I need, pick the download links I need and get going.  I get that done and click the .exe files.  Bam, it errored out on the install, gave me some stupid vista error that I seem to get when trying to install pretty much everything.  Okay, I can deal.  I have a 64 bit os, so I go back to the site and download the 64 bit version, wish I probably should have done first.  I click it and it goes through a dos routine and then vanishes and nothing.  Hmm, okay.  I clicked the first file again and again I get the error.  I go online and look at some forums that seem to look like they might be helpful and I tried several possible work arounds, but to no avail.  I text my boss and let her know I can't get in, she suggested I call help desk.  Duh!  So I call and get whoever is there on the weekends and knew I would miss not having Doug or Evan to help me.  The guy immediately said the program doesn't work on vista at all.  What?  No one told me that!  I'm getting very frustrated at this point and I have been working on this for a couple of hours now.  I text my boss again and she says she uses it on vista and to try again.  Well crap.  I call the help desk again and this time ask for someone who is actually at our building and again he tells me that it can't be done on vista or on Windows 7, great no go for my lappy either.  I knew I should have wiped my pc first and get it back to xp like I planned anyway, grrr.  Andy and I have plans for the afternoon before we head to my Mom's and I'm running out of time.  I decide to just give up and I let my boss know I can't get it.  She let's me know I need to get in to work then.  What? Overtime isn't mandatory yet.  I really didn't have time to go into the office.  Andy then reminded me that his laptop has xp on it.  Well, okay then.  So we decided to cancel our plans as I really do need to get some work done.  Okay it's about 11:30 and I can work until 2:00.  I go back downstairs and unhook my smaller monitor and guess what?  I knocked the dang thing off my desk in the process.  Thank goodness it didn't break, but now it has a flicker.  Sigh.  I bring it upstairs deciding I would like to work upstairs and get it and the laptop set up on the table.  I get the stuff downloaded and it installs wonderfully.  But then, guess what?  I need the ID of my pc at work.  Again, no one told me this.  I just love getting info late.  I try emailing some people at work that I thought might be there with no answer.  I'm running out of time and getting more and more frustrated.  I finally found someone at work and she ever so slowly got me what I needed.  So I get logged in and hit further walls.  I have two monitors at work but I just could not get the remote program to show me anymore than a tiny little screen for me to work from.  Time is running out.  I fought with it a bit and was so frustrated at this point that I just didn't want to do it anymore.  I tried to get everything set up in a way that would work for me on such a tiny work space and then realized that it was well after 1:00.  I got one item done and bagged it all.  One huge frustrating morning.  I hate fighting with computers. Didn't help that I didn't know how long Andy was going to sleep so somewhere in the middle of all that I made a bowl of cereal for myself and just after I finished it, Andy gets up and makes himself an awesome omelet. I can't make good omelets.  Sigh.

I gave up and went and laid down trying my best to relax.  Just after I fell asleep, Andy woke me to tell me it's time to go so we can get a few things done and get to mom's at a decent time.  Sigh again.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text I didn't think I would go on like I did.  It's late tho and I need to get to bed, so I'll have to finish the rest of the story tomorrow.
