Our Anniversary Weekend

My wonderful husband and I have been married for seven years now.  It hasn't always been easy, but it has always been worth it.  I never dreamed I would ever end up with someone so good to me.  We always have something to talk about or laugh about and we always have fun together.  Our anniversary was on Thursday and we decided to go out of town for a night to Wendover.  We stayed at the Montego Bay this time, I think we stayed at the Peppermill last time.  We lost what we planned to lose (the dealers wouldn't bust on blackjack) and our mini suit was wonderful.  Friday was spent at the movies and that evening we had reservations for a tasting menu (Omakase) at the Naked Fish.  This is our newest and best sushi house find in our area.  It's this posh little restaurant downtown with wine glasses and cloth napkins and the waiters bring out a warm, wet, rolled up towel for you to wipe your hands on if you use your fingers to eat (rice can get sticky).  The wait staff is very friendly and attentive and the sushi chefs are really fun to talk to and everyone in there but two guys were dressed to the nines and we showed up in....jeans and tshirts LOL

It was a wonderful meal brought out in many, many small portions.  Probably a 12 course meal in all.  I wasn't sure if the food would stop coming.  It was all wonderful and such a fun experience.  It was all chef's choice so we had no idea what we were gonna get.  We got lots of sushi, mostly in the form of sashimi and nigiri and in the middle the kitchen brought us out a wonderful lamb chop with fingerling potatoes and roasted garlic with a honey mint sauce that was to die for.  I have never liked lamb or mutton, but this was heaven. They followed that with a really nice fruit and wild greens salad and then more sushi.  For desert they had stuffed small balls of ice cream into a soft rice cake and then quartered them.  We got four small pieces each of chocolate ice cream in a strawberry rice cake and then four green tea ice cream in a green tea rice cake.  I also don't like green tea, but loved the desert.  It was the best eating experience that either one of us had ever had and felt the price was completely worth it and we'd do it again.

Saturday we were bums and just played games until we finally talked ourselves into getting dressed so we could go pick Lily up at Dan and Denise's, they were wonderful to watch her for us, and then we stayed late talking.  Sunday we ended up going back over to their house for a Fourth of July on the third BBQ.  The food and company were wonderful.  Monday we took as a catch up day and one last day to spend together before going back to reality.  We were going to go out but ended up staying in and watching movies and TV and did a little house work.  About mid day, we went and bought a really nice Weber charcoal grill (our gas one is toast) and then stopped at the store and bought fixin's for a nice steak dinner.  Once the grill was together we grilled squash, zucchini, peppers and shrimp and the steaks, of course, and roasted red potatoes in the oven.  It was delicious!

It was a wonderful way to spend an Anniversary.
